I created CookieTimer.js as part of a project evaluating an experimental recipe interface via user testing. The experimental interface was universally panned by the users, but nearly every user who tried the timer spontaneously praised it.
I am now releasing the timer to the public so that your users may spontaneously praise your websites.

- Test for compatibility with more browser versions
- Add flash fallback for audio on older IE versions
- Remove dependency on jquery.cookies.2.2.0.js
- Separate html for timer into a separate file
Compatibility
Because recipe websites are often visited by users with older browsers CookieTimer.js has been coded with an eye towards compatibility with legacy browsers. The current version has been tested with the latest versions of Safari, Mobile Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.
With the exception of sound playback everything should be compatible back to IE 7. You will need to add a flash audio fallback to support sound on IE 7 and 8. Sound playback is not supported in mobile Safari due to it's requirement that audio playback must be initiated by a touch event.
